Which angle should I use? 15° or 20°?

Short answer: if you're not sure, use 20°. It's the more forgiving choice and works well for most kitchens.

20° — for everyday use. A stronger, more durable edge that holds up to daily cooking and heavier tasks. This is the better default for most Western-style knives and softer steels.

15° — for precision. A finer, sharper edge suited to detailed cutting work and harder steels — but a narrower edge wears faster and may need more frequent touch-ups.

The Problem

Traditional Sharpening Falls Short

Most methods take daily practice. Without it, you're left squashing tomatoes instead of slicing them.

Reduced Cutting Performance

Reduced Cutting Performance

A dull edge needs constant extra pressure. Slicing turns into sawing, and knives get swapped mid-task instead of sharpened.

Requires Constant Practice

Requires Constant Practice

Traditional methods demand frequent use and a steady, consistent angle, leaving most home cooks with skipped sharpening or an uneven edge.

Risk of Blade Damage

Risk of Blade Damage

An incorrect angle doesn't just fail to sharpen. It can round the tip, scratch the finish, or leave the edge worse than before.

THE BENEFITS

Knives Cut Like New Again

Sharp Again, Fast

Sharp Again, Fast

No lengthy setup or drawn-out sessions. A few rolls and you're back to prepping.

HOW TO USE

Sharp Again. No Guesswork.

Not a touch-up. A blade that cuts the way it did before it went dull.

Works brilliantly on my chef's knife and santoku. Noticeably sharper after one pass. My paring knife's a bit too narrow to sit right on the guide, so I still do that one by hand. Worth knowing before you buy, but for the knives I actually use daily, it's exactly what I wanted.

  • Miku W.

Feels solid, not flimsy like I expected for the price. The magnet holds properly, the roller doesn't wobble. I was half expecting something to fall apart after a few uses. Hasn't happened.

My chef's knife hadn't been touched in a couple of years, so it took a proper few minutes the first time. That honestly built my trust in it more than if it had claimed to be instant. Now it's just a quick roll every couple of weeks to keep it there.

  • Margo R.

    Margo R.

Genuinely didn't think this knife could come back. It had gone so dull I was sawing through a tomato instead of slicing it. Two passes later it was cutting like it did the day I bought it.

  • Priya R.

    Priya R.

I was nervous putting my good knife anywhere near a sharpener I hadn't tried before. Didn't want to be the girl who ruined a decent blade trying to save a sharpening fee. No scratches, no rounded tip, edge came out even. Wouldn't have risked it if I wasn't fairly confident going in, but it held up.

Frequently Asked Questions

check_box

How long is shipping?

We offer free tracked shipping for all our New Zealand and Australian orders. Please allow 7-15 business days for delivery. Tracking can be accessed here

check_box

What knives are compatible?

Best on the knives you use daily: chef's, santoku, utility. Paring and pocket knives are too narrow to sit properly against the guide. If most of your cutting comes from a chef's knife, it'll do the job perfectly.

check_box

How long does it last?

The discs wear with regular use, same as any sharpening tool. Replace them once they stop sharpening like they used to, no need to replace the whole unit. The base and guide are built to keep going well past that.

check_box

Is it really as fast as the demonstration?

Depends how dull the knife is. A knife that's just lost its edge needs a few rolls. One that hasn't been sharpened in years takes longer, there's more edge to bring back.

check_box

Will it fix a knife that's on its last legs?

Yes. The diamond disc is built for exactly that, reshaping an edge that's gone properly dull. The ceramic disc then refines it once the shape's back. A neglected knife just takes longer, the process itself doesn't change.

check_box

Is there any scratch or damage risks?

The disc only touches the edge, not the flat of the blade, so the finish isn't at risk. The locked angle also means you're not freehanding or guessing, which is where most damage from other sharpening methods come from.

check_box

Why this and not a whetstone / cheaper one?

A whetstone works if you've got the time to learn a steady angle by hand. This does the same job, without the practice. Most complaints about cheaper versions come down to magnets popping off or abrasive wearing out in weeks. We'd rather cost a little more and actually hold up.

check_box

How does the warranty work?

Nonna's Kitchen Products are backed by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. It doesn't cover damage from misuse, like excessive heat, sharp utensils, or improper care. Normal wear, like light marks on the steel peaks over time, isn't covered either.

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This is a handy knife sharpening kit. Just attach your dull knife to the magnetic holder and roll the sharpener along the blade. Within minutes your knife is sharp and ready to use. It really is so quick. The magnet is very strong. It doesn't require any extra strength or special skill to use this sharpener. I like that it works on any size knife. It is super easy to use and doesn't require any special skills or strength. Very happy with this knife sharpener. Great gift for those who appreciate a sharp knife.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

I have been using this rolling knife sharpener for about two weeks, and it has worked very well for quick maintenance between more thorough sharpenings.I have a larger electric sharpener that I normally pull out every few months when my kitchen knives need a more complete sharpening, but this is much easier to grab when a knife just needs its edge touched up. There is no setup, cord, or bulky appliance to deal with, so I have found myself using it more frequently to keep my knives sharp rather than waiting until they become noticeably dull.I especially like having both the 15° and 20° sharpening angles. The magnetic holder keeps the blade positioned at the selected angle, which removes much of the guesswork and makes it easy to maintain a consistent edge. The magnet holds my knives securely enough that they stay stable while I roll the sharpener along the blade. The rolling sharpener itself moves smoothly and feels solid in the hand. I like having separate sharpening and honing surfaces as well, since I can sharpen the edge and then finish it without needing another tool. After only a few passes, I can feel a noticeable improvement in how easily my knives cut. After two weeks, this has become a convenient complement to my electric sharpener rather than a replacement for it. For quick in-between sharpening, it is considerably easier to pull out and use, and the choice between 15° and 20° angles makes it useful for different knives in my kitchen.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

I tried this rolling knife sharpener on one of my medium-sized kitchen knives, and it worked better than I expected. The setup was simple and it was easy to use without having to figure out a complicated sharpening technique. After a few passes, I could tell the edge was noticeably better and the knife was cutting much more cleanly.I like that the rolling design helps keep the process consistent instead of trying to hold a sharpening stone at the right angle. For someone who just wants an easy way to maintain kitchen knives, this is a convenient little tool. I’m still getting familiar with it, but so far it has done the job well and made sharpening feel much less intimidating.

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This Nonnas Kitchen Rolling Knife Sharpener Kit is a good addition to the kitchen. The magnetic base holds the knives very well at the angle I select, making the whole process easier, keeps the blade stable during sharpening, and coarse diamond grit side did an excellent job of shaping the blade angle and made it easy to ensure each stroke followed the entire length of the blade; it's easy to use, but I have to get use to it. The one draw back for me is the blade is up and if not careful - you will get yourself cut easily. I am a little nervous, but I will have to get use to it. Overall, is a nice little knives sharpener to have around the house for small knives. The value is reasonable for the unique look and design.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

I chose the Nonnas Kitchen Rolling Knife Sharpener Kit because I wanted a more consistent way to maintain my kitchen knives without struggling with traditional sharpening stones or manual sharpeners. The rolling design makes the process much easier to control and helps create a clean, sharp edge with less guesswork. The biggest advantage is the rolling mechanism. Instead of trying to hold a knife at the correct angle by hand, the guide system helps keep the sharpening angle consistent. This makes it much more approachable for people who want professional-looking results without years of sharpening experience. The kit includes diamond and stainless steel discs, allowing for both sharpening and honing. The diamond disc helps restore a sharper edge, while the honing disc helps refine and maintain the blade after sharpening.I also appreciate the adjustable 15° and 20° sharpening angles. This gives flexibility depending on the type of knife being sharpened. Whether maintaining a delicate kitchen knife or a more durable everyday blade, having angle options makes the tool more versatile. The compact design makes it easy to store, and the setup is simple enough to use regularly rather than waiting until knives become completely dull.Pros:Rolling design makes sharpening easier and more consistentHelps maintain proper sharpening angleIncludes diamond sharpening and stainless honing discsAdjustable 15° and 20° anglesWorks well for kitchen knife maintenanceMore beginner-friendly than traditional sharpening stonesCompact and easy to storeHelps restore a very sharp edgeCons:Requires some practice to achieve the best resultsNot ideal for severely damaged or chipped bladesRolling motion may feel different compared to traditional sharpening methodsSome knives may require a different sharpening angleResults depend on proper technique and pressureFinal Thought:The Nonnas Kitchen Rolling Knife Sharpener Kit is a great tool for anyone who wants sharper knives without the frustration of learning complicated sharpening techniques. The guided rolling design, adjustable angles, and included sharpening and honing discs make knife maintenance much more approachable. For home cooks who want to keep their blades performing at their best, this sharpener is a practical and worthwhile addition to the kitchen.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Overall, this is a very straightforward and easy-to-use sharpening system. The magnetic block is a great feature—it keeps the knife locked into place so you get a completely consistent bevel angle every single time. It even had enough aggressive cutting power to let me regrind the bevel on a damaged knife without much fuss.Having two different grits on the roller is definitely a plus and helps speed up the overall sharpening process. However, I wasn't able to get a paper-slicing, razor-sharp edge using the sharpener alone. It takes taking the blade to a leather strop afterward to really finish off the edge and get it razor-sharp.Solid 4-star tool if you don't mind that quick extra stropping step at the end!

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

The media could not be loaded. I absolutely love this! This is a great idea. In the past, I have tried to sharpen my knives with the straight sharpener that came with them. I never felt like I knew what I was doing and so I never used it. With this, it is easy. I have already sharpened all my knives in the set and they are the sharpest they have been in years. The magnetic part holds the knife in place, and you simply roll the other piece to sharpen the blade. The roller has two sides; one side is for finer sanding. The block has two sides, both magnetic, that give you two different angles to choose from. It is smaller than I thought it was going to be, but I am happier as it doesn't take up much space.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This rolling sharpener is a great idea for beginners or anyone who has never taken the time to properly learn traditional knife sharpening. The magnetic angle guide keeps the blade in position and the roller moves nice and smoothly while the two included grits do a decent job bringing a dull kitchen knife back to a usable edge fairly quickly. Just know this is really meant for taller blades with a flat grind because using it on a hollow grind convex edge or a blade that is too short could change or mess up the original profile. It will never outperform proper sharpening stones and good technique but not everyone wants to spend hours learning all of that. For regular people who simply want their kitchen knives sharp again without making the process complicated this is a surprisingly easy and convenient option.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

I've used this on a chefs knife and other smaller knives. It does sharpen the blade but depending on high the heel is you're not going to be able sharpen it. I feel it slips also and the magnet could be stronger. It could be my technique but you can see I got rogue streak marks near the middle and back edge. You might get better results with a whetstone. I did cut up some pichana steaks and I let the weight of my chef knife to make easy slices so that part I do like.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This Nonnas Kitchen rolling knife sharpener is a great alternative to the "big" name brand. The kit arrived and I immediately put it to work on my Henckels santoku knife. My knives have a 15 degree blade, so I attached the knife to the 15 degree side of the wooden block. The magnet is strong and holds the knife firmly in place. The rolling sharpener has two sides, a 400 grit and a 1000 grit. Start with the coarse, then move to the 1000. I opted to only go one way against the blade instead of back and forth. It took about 20 seconds per side of the knife with each grit disc. I simply flipped the knife on the block to do the other side of the blade. The sharpening was effortless and the result is a very sharp knife! I ran the rest of my knives through the sharpening process, which took about 20 minutes total. It was totally worth the time! The sharpener is well made, works great, is easy to use and has solid value when you compare to the big name brand. I would definitely recommend this one!

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

An excellent rolling knife sharpener that is simple, effective, and easy to use.I normally sharpen my knives using a 42-inch belt sander followed by a leather strop, but I wanted a simple sharpening system that my wife could use without specialized equipment or much experience. This Nonnas Kitchen Rolling Knife Sharpener has been exactly what I was looking for. My wife learned the sharpening process quickly, and it has become an easy way to keep our kitchen knives sharp. The overall build quality is very good. The sharpener feels well made and durable, and the strong magnetic holder securely holds the knife in place while maintaining a consistent sharpening angle. I also like having both the 20-degree and 15-degree angle options, making it suitable for everything from everyday kitchen knives to finer cutting edges. The rolling sharpener has both a 400-grit diamond surface for restoring an edge and a 1000-grit surface for refining it. The diamond abrasive removes material quickly, so I recommend using only light pressure and letting the sharpener do the work. Too much pressure can remove more material than necessary. While this sharpener produces an excellent working edge, those looking for an extremely polished razor edge may still want to finish with a leather strop. For everyday kitchen use, however, it is quick, consistent, and much easier than freehand sharpening.Pros:- Good quality construction- Well made and durable- Good fit and finish- Easy to use- Strong magnetic holder securely holds the knife- 15° and 20° sharpening angle options- 400-grit and 1000-grit sharpening surfaces- Diamond abrasives sharpen quickly and efficiently- Great for beginners and experienced users- Compact and easy to store- Multifunctional design- Makes an excellent gift- Excellent functionality- Reasonably priced- Good value for the moneyCons:- Takes a little practice to achieve the best results- Using excessive pressure can remove more material than necessary- A leather strop may still be needed for those seeking an extremely sharp edgeOverall:This is a high quality, well-made, durable knife sharpener that is functional, easy to use, and delivers consistent results when used correctly. The dual sharpening angles, strong magnetic holder, and efficient diamond abrasives make it an excellent choice for keeping kitchen knives sharp with minimal effort. While experienced users may still choose to finish with a leather strop for the finest edge, I believe it offers excellent functionality, good value for the money, and would highly recommend it.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

I picked up this rolling knife sharpener kit to tackle our dull kitchen cutlery, and it has been pretty fun to use once you figure out the rhythm. The kit comes with the magnetic angle block which holds the blade steady at either 15 or 20 degrees, making it foolproof compared to traditional whetstones where you have to guess the angle. You just stick your knife to the magnetic block on the table, roll the diamond disc back and forth along the edge a few times, and then finish it off with the ceramic disc. It puts a remarkably sharp, razor-like edge on chef knives very quickly. My only minor gripe is that shorter paring knives can sit a bit too low on the block, so you have to mind your fingers. But for standard kitchen knives, it rolls smooth and does a fantastic job without making a massive mess on the counter.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

I've been curious about rolling knife sharpeners for a while and decided to try this one from Nonnas Kitchen. I got the less expensive 2-angle, 15° and 20° model. The unit comes with a very rudimentary multilingual instruction pamphlet, a dual-use storage and shipping box, a magnetic wooden alignment block, and the roller, which has plastic storage caps on each end, a #400 grit disc on one side, and a #1000 disc on the other side. Each of the discs is magnetically attached to the roller and can theoretically be replaced if they are worn or damaged, but I don't know how to buy replacements, so this is not a very helpful feature in practice. The roller has independent bearings on each end, so the center can be held and each end can spin independently. The roller is very smooth with good bearings and a light, crisp feel that makes it relatively easy to align the roller with the knife blade.I've used this to sharpen a few knives so far, 2 20° stamped Victorinox kitchen knives, and 1 15° forged OYY chef's knife. It was reasonably effective on each knife, but the roller is small, and the taller knives required that I use something to hold the roller up. I used a stack of cutting boards to align the roller for the most effective application. I noticed that some knives with sloped handles or very large bolsters might interfere with the roller near the heel of the blade, in those cases the base of the knife might be impossible to sharpen with this.I used 10 strokes on each side of the #400 disc to create a small burr on the knives, and then followed up with about 20 strokes of the #1000 disc to fine-tune the edge, followed by honing on my steel honing rod. This was effective to sharpen the knives, but I wasn't able to easily achieve a truly clean cut on printer paper. However, the sharpness is definitely enough to cut tomatoes, as well as for other kitchen uses. This works most easily for knives ranging from about 3/4" to 2" blade height. It's harder to use on very small or large knives. Overall it isn't as versatile as a whetstone or something like a Spyderco Sharpmaker, but it is inexpensive, and much more effective and less damaging to knives than a carbide or ceramic pull-through sharpener, while being almost as easy to use.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This rolling knife sharpener is remarkably easy to use and delivers impressive results. I was able to sharpen several of my chef's knives to a razor-sharp edge in just a few minutes, making it a great option for anyone who wants to maintain their kitchen knives without needing to learn more advanced sharpening techniques. The kit includes clear instructions that make the process straightforward, even if you've never used a rolling sharpener before. The magnetic angle guide helps maintain a consistent sharpening angle, taking much of the guesswork out of the process and helping produce repeatable results. The replaceable diamond sharpening disc removes material efficiently, while the honing disc helps refine the edge afterward. Together, they do an excellent job of bringing dull blades back to life with minimal effort.Cleanup is also simple. After sharpening, I just wiped down the sharpener components and the knife blades with a damp cloth to remove any residual metal particles before putting everything away. The overall construction feels solid and well made, and the sharpening process is quick enough that regularly maintaining your knives doesn't feel like a chore.Overall, this is an excellent knife sharpening kit that combines ease of use with impressive performance. If you're looking for a straightforward way to keep your kitchen knives razor sharp, this sharpener gets the job done quickly and effectively.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This rolling knife sharpener offers a refreshing approach to maintaining kitchen knives, especially for those who want consistent results without mastering complex sharpening techniques. The standout feature is the use of magnetic angle guides set at 15 degrees and 20 degrees, which takes much of the guesswork out of the process. In practice, this makes a noticeable difference in achieving a clean, even edge, whether you are refining a delicate slicing knife or restoring a general-purpose chef’s knife.Using the sharpener feels intuitive from the start. The magnetic base holds the knife securely in place, which adds a level of confidence, particularly for beginners who may worry about maintaining a steady angle. For example, when sharpening a dull chef’s knife before meal prep, the setup allows you to focus on the rolling motion rather than constantly adjusting your hand position. The diamond disc works efficiently to restore the edge, while the stainless steel disc helps refine and smooth it afterward. In real kitchen scenarios, the results are quite satisfying. A previously dull knife used for chopping vegetables can regain a noticeable sharpness in just a few minutes. Slicing tomatoes or trimming meat becomes smoother and requires less pressure, which improves both safety and efficiency. It is also convenient that the system does not require water or complicated preparation, making it easy to use even during a busy cooking routine. The build quality adds to the overall experience. The beech wood base feels sturdy and stable on the counter, while the rolling mechanism moves smoothly without feeling flimsy. It also has a compact footprint, so it does not take up much storage space.Overall, this sharpener delivers a thoughtful combination of simplicity and effectiveness. It is especially well suited for home cooks who want reliable sharpening results without a steep learning curve.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

I don't know exactly what I'm doing with this sharpener, but I think I'm the target market... I'm a home cook and need to sharpen my knives. I have a sharpening stone set, but that's annoying to get out and use, and I hoped this would be simpler.First of all, I started using it and the magnetic base was sliding everywhere, I thought I was going to cut myself a few times... TAKE THE PLASTIC OFF THE RUBBER FEET, that was so stupid. I included a picture of it, there are little plastic layers over the non-slip rubber feet that make this dangerous as hell. Once the plastic was off, the rubber feet locked everything down really well, felt safe and stable on tile counter and a wooden table.I was getting gray metal powder (the steel from my knife) all over my hands and table, so I started using a piece of paper to try to collect the metal. I think it's a good sign (I know metal is coming off the knife) but still annoying. For shorter knives, there isn't enough steel on the magnets to get a great hold, and when sharpening the blade can shift. The sharpener pushes the knife too low to sharpen. I figured out I can use by fingertips to hold the knife at the right height, see the pictures. So it can be done, just annoying. The magnetic base has two strong magnets, it holds the knife securely. Once I figured out the rubber feet, they worked well. The sharpener rolls smoothly and obviously takes steel off the knife. So everything is working as advertised. Everything feels solid and well-built.I took off one star for poor directions. This is advertised for someone at home, who probably doesn't have a lot of experience sharpening. Most of my larger knives have a curve in the blade, and this doesn't sharpen curves well. I could hear the sound of the metal-on-metal change when the longer knives. I can sharpen the straight part of the blade, then shift the knife to a different angle to sharpen different sections, but that should be something that should be in the directions. It did make my knives sharper, not a bad product for the value.

Customer photo review of Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This knife sharpener set is extremely high quality and very professional looking. The bevel block is marked with the 20° angle. The block and roller are both made of very solid wood. The crystal parts that sharpen on the roller both have removable plastic covers over them that keep them safe from the elements.I ordered this as a gift but really want to keep it cuz it's so high quality.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This sharpener is so satisfying to use!Pros: It has magnetic positioning and two-stage sharpening for consistent edge control and kitchen-ready precision. It features a 400-grit diamond grinding disc for repairing and reshaping damaged edges and a 1000-grit ceramic honing disc for refining and maintaining a razor-sharp finish. It has strong magnets on both sides of the base, so this knife sharpener firmly secures the blade during sharpening.Cons: It is a little bulky for storage.Overview: Really effective rolling sharpener with great magnet hold and two discs to repair and get knives truly sharp. Gets a perfect edge every time, just takes up a bit more drawer space than a small sharpener.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This new innovative way to sharpen the knife is quite strange and not very safe for any non experienced chef or anybody according to me as i used it in a non efficient way.You have to hold the 2 pieces together and slide the knife in between them as it slips easily out of my hand.I do really like my old sharpener as this one is not simple to use.It is my honest opinion.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

I was somewhat skeptical about whether this would work or not, BUT! I have to say , it does a really good job of sharpening the kitchen knives. I've tried several other tools for this job, but this tool has done the job.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This knife sharpener is compact, easy to use, and feels well made. It is convenient to keep in the kitchen and does not take up much space. The sharpening process is simple, and it works well for refreshing the edge on everyday kitchen knives. The packaging also looks nice and professional.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Really happy with how the knife got sharpened. Easy to use, takes less than 5min. Knife’s blade becomes smooth and sharp without any nicks. Also doesn’t take much space in the kitchen.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

★★★★★ Great sharpener! It’s easy to use, feels well made, and my knives came out noticeably sharper. Great value for the price.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This sharpener makes it easy to get a nice edge on my kitchen knives. The rolling design is simple to control, and having two angle options is really handy. My knives felt noticeably sharper after using it.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

I’ve tried several manual sharpeners and honing rods over the years, but this rolling sharpener is a total game-changer. The magnetic base holds the knife at the perfect angle, which completely removes the guesswork—no more worrying if I’m holding the blade crooked and ruining the edge. The two-stage process is very intuitive. I started with the diamond disc to repair the edge on my dullest chef's knife, and the ceramic disc finished it off with a beautiful, polished hone. It’s compact, feels very durable, and is much safer to use than traditional stones. I was able to get my blades back to "slicing through a tomato skin" sharpness in just a few minutes. Highly recommended for anyone who wants professional results without needing professional sharpening skills.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

The sharpener works pretty well and has done a good job sharpening my knives. My only complaint is that some of the edges on the block have started to peel up. Nothing has fully come off yet, but a higher-quality adhesive would make the product feel more durable. Overall, it works well, but the construction could be improved.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

I bought my kitchen knives because Project Farm said they were the best. The issue is that even they still needed sharpening and I didn't have a way to do that until I bought this. I've sharpened knives before and I love the roller sharpener style because they're so simple. You can't really mess it up too much. You just use the disk and roll until happy. This unit is pretty quality and safe. You will have to stabilize some bigger knives like a chefs knife, but that's to be expected. It's a nice size so you can store it in a drawer and not lose it somewhere in the garage. Much cheaper than some of the other big names but at the end of the day you're sharpening a knife which isn't a very hard thing to do, so the materials aren't really different between brands anyway.

Took off rust and even managed to help sharpen the blade once more. Really impressed with how easy it is once you've figured out how to hold everything. Its not about a death grip so much as a better pressure against the blade with consistent long strokes. Small enough to fit in my drawer without anything special for space. Having 2 blade angles actually came in handy, I didnt realize mine were all different. The wheel bearings inside seem like they're going to hold up with time and I can only say any sort of washing should be hand washing in my opinion. Quality diamond grit sharpening tool with a decent quality magnet to help keep the blade angled properly. Looks like an acacia wood or similarly colored stain. Super happy to have this around for my knives.

I picked this up to have an easy to use and more consistent sharpening experience for my knives. You may have to search for your knife angle to prevent removing unnecessary materials. In my test case, I had a Cuisinart knife. Angle is supposedly 22 degrees. I used the 20 degree magnet to hold the blade up. You roll the 400 grit side along the edges a few times, then repeat with the 1000 grit side. You may have to press down a bit so the roller does not slide. But, that's it. The knife was noticeably sharper after using this.Knives larger than 2" may require you to raise the roller via some sort of platform, so you can sharpen bigger knives with a little creativity. Tiny knives may still be an issue, but a metal spacer under the dull end may do the trick. It is not as fast as an electric sharpener, but then again you have a choice regarding the angle of the blade. They do have a 4 angle option in the listing for a little more. That provides even more flexibility. This is one of many clones of essentially the same item. As such, even if Nonnas Kitchen does not offer spare grinding disks, you can likely obtain one from another clone's offering. It'd be nice if the kit came in a nicer box, but the listing as is does save a little money.Overall, I'm happy with the performance and the price point.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

I've been using this rolling knife sharpener on my everyday kitchen knives for a few weeks now. The magnetic base makes setting the angle (15° or 20°) foolproof, and the design looks great on the counter. It brings a dull edge back to life very fast with minimal effort. However, be careful if you plan to use this on expensive or high-end cutlery. The diamond disc takes off material surprisingly fast and feels quite aggressive—it almost feels like it wears down the metal more than necessary just to get a sharp edge. It’s a solid, convenient tool for standard everyday knives, but I would hesitate to use it on my high-carbon specialized chef knives. Great value, but treat your premium blades with caution!

I had never seen one of these before ordering it. Apparently my son follows a guy on TikTok who loves his.It required a small learning curve having never seen it used before but I picked it up easy enough. When you get the hang of it you can sharpen rather quickly and the angle is set for you. There is no question. It’s well built and is a very nice looking sharpener. So far it seems like something that will hold up for a long time. Very durable.

The rolling mechanism makes sharpening approachable even without prior experience, since the guided track keeps the blade angle consistent throughout each pass. The diamond abrasive removes dullness efficiently and brings a noticeable edge back to kitchen knives within a handful of passes. The housing feels solid and well constructed, with no wobble in the rolling mechanism that would throw off the sharpening angle. Cleaning the unit afterward takes just a wipe down, since metal shavings don't build up inside the compact housing. For the price of a single professional sharpening service, this kit pays for itself quickly and gives consistent results on a range of knife types. I love that this product takes the guesswork out of exact angles and sharpens evenly on both sides.

This sharpening tool works very well. I purchased it to see if it would work at such a low price and it delivers very well . The only drawback is that it is really intended for larger blade knives. You can shim small knives on a cutting board but it is better for sharpening larger knives. I am happy with the results and will add it to the collection as it creates a very sharp edge.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

Compared with other sharpeners I found it difficult to use which is contrary to what it is supposed to be. Long knives are difficult because when you down the the end the pressure causes the knife to pop off the magnet. You could change the placement for the handle end, middle and end but that is extra work and results in an uneven edge. Small paring type knives are also difficult because the knife blade doesn't com up high enough to make contact with the device.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This rolling knife sharpener is a convenient option for touching up kitchen knives without using a traditional sharpening stone. The 15° and 20° angle options are helpful for different blade styles, and the diamond and stainless steel discs give it both sharpening and honing ability. It has good value for basic home knife maintenance, especially if you want a more guided system than freehand sharpening. The main drawback is that it still takes some practice to keep steady pressure and get an even edge from heel to tip.Overall, it’s a useful sharpening kit for everyday knives, but results depend on technique and taking your time.

Nonna's Rolling Knife Sharpener

This knife sharpener is easy to use and very effective for most kitchen knives. I have a couple kitchen knives that were dull but still had good metal, attempts to sharpen them with a V-block style sharpener was unsuccessful. I got this rolling sharpener because it had two angles, 15 and 20 degrees. I used the 15-degree side on the wood block plus the coarse grit of the rolling drum, swiped it three times on each side then switched to the finer grit side and rolled it four times on each side. The difference was instantaneous; the knives are much sharper than they been for some time. I think my V-block sharpener just has the wrong angle. I've sharpened all the knives a few more times, just a couple on the coarse grit and many times on the finer grit with even better results. I've seen other drum type sharpeners like this design costing 4 or 5 times more, but I can't imagine what they have that this doesn't. Both the block and the drum are high-quality build and material, the rolling drum design is compact and easy to use. It comes in a protective box for storage. Very highly recommended for most kitchen knives.
